Thank you Austinbikes customers for making the past few weeks an incredible whirlwind of bikes, fittings, parts, kits, etc. In all the commotion I have had an incredible new racing bike waiting in the wings.
The Ridley Noah is justifiably the most aerodynamic road racing bike on the planet. Heck, they even have a graphic on the frame stating as much.
I got this thing together late late sunday night. A few hours of sleep later, Nicole and I were off on a Mansfield Dam loop. Being a rolling, yet fast loop I knew the bike would be forced to tell the truth unto my ears. The hills rolling out through Rollingwood were a really good sign of climbs to come. The bottom bracket and front end were like a rock underneath me. Coming off another incredible climbing bike (the 2010 Orbea Orca) this bike had a lot to live up to. I spent a brief moment looking down at the top of the hill to confirm that I was indeed on an "aero" bike. When I looked up my lovely wife was leaving me in the dust. With little effort, and a few light presses on the pedals, the bike surged forward on the flat road almost begging me to let the ponies run. I knew I was in for a VERY VERY good ride ahead of me.
The geometry was fine. Not fine as in acceptable, rather like a fine wine. The forward-most position on the optional setback settings on the integrated seatclamp allowed me to position myself directly over the pedal spindles with no seat-rail theatrics. Additionally the integrated seatpost did a great job of allowing me to feel really anchored to the frame without transmitting all the road shock that typically comes with integrated seatpost bikes.
The internally routed cables add a level of refinement that I have personally never known in a frameset. On a side note, the ease of installation of said: internally routed cables might just make your mechanic want to buy you a case of beer ;-).
If you want to know more about this bike's abundant technology, well, you'll just have to call me to discuss. I'm Sol and my number is 512-468-9557
